Your privacy, plainly

Refuge exists for the things you can't say out loud. So here's exactly how privacy works — no fine print, no games.

What we do

Your conversations are encrypted at rest and in transit. They are never sold. They are never used to train AI. They are not shown to your church, your family, your employer, your pastor, or a counselor.

No one on our team reads your conversations as a matter of routine — no monitoring, no review queue, no one watching. The only exceptions are the rare legal and safety situations described below.

You can delete your account and your conversations at any time.

What we don't claim

We won't tell you it is technically impossible for anyone to ever see your data. That would be a lie, and we won't build trust on one. Your data lives in secure systems we operate. We could access it if the law compelled us to, and we've built Refuge so that, in normal use, we don't.

The few exceptions the law may require

Refuge is private, but private is not the same as secret without limit. In rare situations, the law may require us to act on information we become aware of, including:

• suspected abuse or neglect of a child, vulnerable adult, or eligible adult;
• a clear, immediate risk of serious harm to you or another identifiable person;
• a valid legal order requiring disclosure.

These duties exist to protect children, vulnerable adults, eligible adults, and people in immediate danger. If we ever have to act, we disclose only what is necessary to the appropriate authority — nothing more.

That's the whole promise: private by design, honest about the edges.
